Each Permachart quick reference guide is carefully researched and summarized by a Permacharts subject matter expert (SME). Every chart is created with a goal of carefully balancing ease-of-understanding with the breadth of content to make sure that it provides the most usefulness to the reader. The following individuals have contributed to this goal.

Dr. Arshad Ahmad, 3M National Teaching Fellow* & Program Coordinator is an award-winning teacher and author and Associate Professor of Finance at Concordia University. His success with integrating technology in instruction parallels his natural ability to engage a live audience. He has led his faculty in numerous pedagogical innovations including the first web-based elective course attracting record enrollments. He is also very active with the Council of 3M Teaching Fellows and in the Society for Teaching & Learning in Higher Education. 


Don Cartwright, Ph.D. is a Professor of Geography at The University of Western Ontario and a 3M National Teaching Fellow* (1996). He holds three additional awards for excellence in university teaching.


Maureen Connolly is the Director of the Centre for Teaching, Learning and Educational Technologies and Professor of Physical Education and Kinesiology at Brock University. She is the recipient of the 3M National Teaching Award and her university's distinguished teaching award. Maureen is a competitive body builder and she has written extensively on stressed embodiment issues. 


Alex Fancy is 3M National Teaching Fellow* (1988); first Association of Atlantic Universities Distinguished Teacher (1991); recipient of the Lieutenant-Governor's Dialogue Award (NB, 2005); founder and director of Tintamarre, a bilingual theatre company; Professor Emeritus, Mount Allison University (2007), and a member of faculty, Ecole francais de Middlebury College (US). He offers workshop activities focused on engagement.


Ron Marken, Ph.D. is a Professor Emeritus at the University of Saskatchewan and a 3M National Teaching Fellow* (1987). He holds two additional awards for excellence in university teaching.


Terry Matheson, Ph.D., teaches at the University of Saskatchewan, where he has received several teaching awards, including the Student Union's Award for Excellence in Teaching, and the University's Master Teacher Award.


*The 3M National Teaching Fellowships Program is the only national awards program that recognizes teaching excellence and leadership. Created in 1986 by the Society for Teaching and Learning in Higher Education and 3M Canada, it currently has hundreds of award winners representing all disciplines in university teaching from across Canada.

 

Content Specialists

Tony Aspler, author and educator, was awarded The Order of Canada for his contribution to the Canadian wine industry. Tony is also a highly respected international wine writer. 


Diran Basmadjian, Professor (Emeritus) of Chemical Engineering and Applied Chemistry at the University of Toronto. He is the author of two books and over forty journal papers in the areas of adsorption, biochemical engineering, and mathematical modeling.


Alissa Bello, BSc, OCT earned her Bachelor of Science specializing in Behavioural Ecology at the University of Toronto and earned her Bachelor of Education at Queen’s University. She is an Ontario Certified Teacher with teaching credentials for Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Special Ed. She is a co-founder of Brainiac Tutors whose philosophy is that every student is unique and has individual goals, aspirations and learning needs. Brainic Tutors provide custom-tailored programs for JK to post-secondary students as well as SSAT and MCAT preparation. The group of educators at Brainiac Tutors have developed personalized programs that give students the knowledge to learn, the tools to achieve in school and the skills to succeed in life.

Laura Briggs has MSc. (Chemistry) and MLIS degrees and is currently a Ph.D. candidate in Library and Information Science at the University of Western Ontario. Prior to returning to school to work on her Ph.D., she spent ten years helping faculty and students solve their difficult research questions as a science and engineering librarian at the University of Waterloo, UBC (Okanagan), and the University of Alberta.


Sheree Clark, M.Ed., AADP, CHHC is a holistic health and nutrition counselor with a private practice she calls Fork in the Road (fork-road.com). Sheree helps empower individuals, families and corporate groups to get the most out of life by improving their health. She is a graduate of the Institute for Integrative Nutrition and Living Light Culinary Institute. An inspiring author, presenter, teacher, motivator and raw vegan chef, Sheree has authored three books and has written and presented on topics ranging from raw food 101 to overcoming career burnout.


Brian Clement, PhD, LNC ,Co-Director of Hippocrates Health Institute. Dr. Brian Clement has spent more than three decades studying nutrition and natural healthcare. He has received graduate degrees in both naturopathic medicine and nutritional science. Since 1980 he has directed the Institute's growth and development as well as facilitated the implementation of such progressive natural health treatments. In his role as a progressive educator, Brian has conducted countless seminars, lectures, and educational programs, traveling extensively to more than 25 countries around the globe. At home in the United States, he has taken the message of this widely successful program to the entire country. In recent years he has been commissioned by government-supported organizations to establish, organize, and direct health programs in Denmark, Switzerland, Greece, and India. His progressive ideas on natural health approaches, coupled with his vast theoretical and practical scientific experience, have earned him a reputation as a leading expert in the natural health field. Brian's professional opinion is highly regarded and much sought after; he is a frequent guest on television, radio, and in print, and acts as a resource expert for several publications. Brian has also been recognized for his significant contribution in the field of modern healthcare by Who's Who Among Outstanding Americans. 


Anita Federici is a Ph.D. Candidate in Clinical Psychology at York University. Her main areas of focus include borderline personality disorder, eating disorders, and anxiety disorders.


Cindy Green E.C.E.C., B.Sc., is a Professor in the School of Early Childhood Education at Seneca College of Applied Arts and Technology in Toronto, Ontario. She is also a Professional Development Community Consultant and Coordinator of Skills for Success Seminars for 1st year ECE students.


Dr. Trevor A. Hart is an Assistant Professor of Psychology at Ryerson University and a Registered Psychologist. Dr. Hart's research focuses on HIV risk behavior as well as life expectancy and quality of life among HIV+ individuals.


Charmaine D. Mercado, M.A. is a freelance writer and researcher whose main areas of specialization include raw vegan nutrition, psychoneuroimmunology, and various natural healing protocols such as fasting, specific organ cleanses, and supplementation. Her works have appeared in a number of international medical and health publications. An ex-Big Pharma writer and former PR girl of the world's biggest manufacturer of breakfast products, she now devotes her time writing about real cures and real food. She currently works with raw food educators, authors, musicians, athletes, and actors, including leaders in chiropractic and integrative medicine, celebrity chefs, and supplements company owners based in Europe, North America, Australia, and Asia.


Dr. Jennifer Mills is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Psychology at York University and a Registered Psychologist. Her main area of expertise is eating and its disorders.


Dr Phil Narini, MD, FRCP(C), FACS. Dr Phil is a graduate of the University of Toronto. After working as a family physician in an underserviced area of Ontario, he continues his life-long learning adventure and returned to complete his Masters of Science degree at the University of Toronto publishing his thesis on the Immunological Response to Silicone gel. This lead him to pursue a career in plastic surgery, completing his training at the Medical College of Wisconsin followed by subspecialty training in Microresonstructive surgery and Surgery of the Hand. He remains in full-time plastic surgery practice including all aspects of the specialty from the treatment of Hand Trauma, Arthritis, complex hand deformities, microsurgical reconstruction, breast reconstruction and cosmetic surgery. As a life-long learner and promoter of good health through education and prevention, he is now a lead research on the potential health benefits of diet supplementation. This primarily includes the benefits of betalains- a red beet root extract. Preaching the mantra, “healthy longevity is your choice”, he has taken the challenge of practicing what you preach to heart, and sets the example of healthy living through proper diet and exercise, maintenance of proper body weight, and supplementation of his diet as necessary given the deficiencies in our food sources.


Terri Nelson-Bunge is a nutrition/health writer, a nationally registered dietetic technician (DTR), and a nutritional counselor. She holds a degree in dietetics from the Pennsylvania State University and is certified in plant-based nutrition from E-Cornell University. Terri channels her passion for a plant-based diet and compassion for animals through her activism with the Daytona Beach Vegetarian Society.Terri counsels clients through*Terri's Diet and Wellness Counseling* on weight loss, improving chronic disease and gluten-free living.


Lynn Ogryzlo is an experienced and multi-dimensional Canadian and international wine and food commentator.


Stella Y. Park is a Ph.D. candidate in Sociology studying immigration and health issues at the University of Toronto. As a Teaching Assistant at the university, she has helped many undergraduate students to improve their study skills and become better independent learners.


Sherri Parkins, M.A. coordinates the Assistive Technology and Learning Strategists services at Seneca College of Applied Arts and Technology in Toronto, Ontario.


Aleks Radojcic, D.Ac, R.N.C.P., R.H., is nationally known as an award-winning natural body cleansing Product Formulator, and Holistic Health Practitioner with over 25 years of clinical experience. In the 1980s, Dr. Aleks established Health and Harmony Centre in Toronto, a pioneering clinic working with the body, mind and spirit. In practice, he may utilize healing modalities such as Acupuncture, Reflexology, Contact Healing, and various modes of Energy Healing. Solutions may also include recommendations for dietary modifications, herb/vitamin/mineral supplementation, homeopathic remedies, flower essences, and body detoxification programs. 


Nicholas Rowe, Ph.D. is Associate Professor of Economics and Associate Dean of the Faculty of Public Affairs of Carleton University. Professor Rowe has over 25 years experience in teaching economics at various levels, in Canada, Cuba and Australia. He is a member of C.D. Howe Institute's Monetary Policy Council, a panel of 12 top Canadian monetary economists that provides an independent recommendation for the Bank of Canada's monetary policy.


Jennifer L. Schulenberg, Ph.D., teaches courses in criminology, juvenile delinquency, and research methods at Sam Houston State University. She is the recipient of the Governor General's Academic Gold Medal for her research on the use of police discretion.


Kelly Serbonich holds a B.S. in Culinary Nutrition and M.S.in Holistic Nutrition. She merged her conventional culinary training with her interest in holistic health as Executive Chef of the Hippocrates Health Institute in West Palm Beach, FL. Kelly is the co-author of the Hippocrates Health Institute's guide to raw and living food preparation, Healthful Cuisine. 


Karen Sencich is an award winning Certified Professional Organizer® and the owner of Havoc to Harmony. Karen’s clients call her “the universal remote to life” as she helps individuals click through life transitions. A dynamic and entertaining speaker, trainer, writer and hands-on organizer since 1999, Karen has extensive experience as a media expert being featured on Canada AM, Rogers Daytime TV and in numerous national newspapers. Her popular organizing courses have been offered by two local area colleges and currently through organizing association teleclasses. Karen has authored numerous solution oriented articles and booklets about organizing with the emphasis on easy-to-implement, practical, organizing solutions for home, work and school. She is a columnist for Women with Vision Magazine and has been writing lifestyle related topics for Permacharts since 2007.


Janice Shearer has been a Faculty Member in the Community College System for more than 20 years and is currently a full time Professor of Marketing at Mohawk College of Applied Arts and Technology in Hamilton, Ontario. She has been awarded the President's Award of Excellence in this role. Janice has many years of industry experience in Consumer Package Goods, Advertising and in the Non-Profit sector. She graduated with an Honors Bachelor of Commerce Degree from Queen's University.


Charmaine Camille Sherlock has a B.A. from McMaster University, twenty years of organizational experience, and Professional Coach Training from the Adler School of Professional Coaching. She is a member of the International Coach Federation and founder of The Compass Group.


Geralyn St. Louis completed a post-graduate diploma in Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL) at the University of Alberta, Edmonton. She has taught beginner through advanced level ESL classes both in Canada and overseas. She is currently working as a consultant in the areas of ESL project management, teacher training, intercultural training, settlement, research and writing.


Pat Street, ECE: B.Ed: M.Ed. is a Professor in the School of Early Childhood Education at Seneca College of Applied Arts and Technology in Toronto, Ontario. She also is the Coordinator of Skills for Success Seminars for 1st year ECE students.
